My husband and I recently bought a cute bed and breakfast out in the country and are having a really great time remodeling the space. We will be refinishing most of the antiques that we acquired with the home including most of the bedroom furniture that reflects the style of the house. One thing that we will not be reusing or keeping is the mattresses in the bed rooms. That has been one of my top priorities when remodeling each of the 7 unique bedrooms.

Because I’m on a strict budget for each of the bedrooms I have been doing my homework and really taking my time to research what I want to buy so that I purchase the correct mattresses. I have narrowed my research to two types of mattresses that I will choose for each of the rooms. Since I have a few rooms to fill I can vary the type of mattress in each bedroom to give the customer a choice of sleep comforts they desire.

The first type of mattress that I will be choosing is a pocketed coil mattress. A pocketed coil mattress is a unique type of coil mattress in the way that the springs are joined in the structure of the mattress. A pocketed coil is just that, a coil inside its very own pocket, and then each of these pockets are sewn together to give a different comfort from a tradition coil spring mattress. Using this type of spring unit creates a contour to each person’s body type and helps to elimination the motion partners feel as they toss and turn throughout the night. This elimination of movements makes a more restful sleep for you and your partner. With this type of spring unit you have a variety of comfort levels to choose from, you can choose a firm, plush, or pillow top. For my bed and breakfast I will be choosing a plush which gives you a firm support from the springs with a soft plush top. This should appeal to most of the customers that choose to stay with us for their vacation.

The second type of mattress is similar in the movement but different in the feel. I will be using a visco foam, also known as, memory foam mattress in a few of the bedrooms. This type of mattress is very different than any bed you have ever tried in the past. It was developed for NASA for the astronauts and has been released to the public for use. Memory foam beds are an all foam mattress there are no springs. The nature of that particular foam is its ability to contour to your body then come right back up to its original shape. Because it is an all foam bed the motion is almost completely eliminated and creates a unique sinking feeling into the bed as it conforms to your body shape. Whether you are a side or back sleeper the memory foam will take the shape of your body as well as help relieve pressure points that you have in your shoulders and hips caused by springs pushing against your body. It gives the sleeper a feeling of weightlessness.

With my two choices I am hoping to create a cozy home feel for all of my guests on their vacations. If I give them the chance to choose what bed they like the best it will keep them happier and hopefully coming back and telling their friends. With a late check out time of 2 pm, close the blinds and shades so you can sleep in each morning you are here. Each of the mattresses gives you a comfort that is not only unique and different but also the support that your body needs to give you the rest you deserve on your vacation.
